More About Atlanta Cottages

  • Usually built between 1930 and 1950, Cottages have quite a bit of charm inside and out. They are typically a bit smaller than a bungalow or Tudor-style home, but that is part of their character!  The exterior is typically siding but every now and then you’ll find a brick cottage. Many also have a small covered front porch. Inside you’ll typically find 8 to 9-foot ceilings, hardwood flooring and cozy kitchens (unless the home was renovated to create a more open floor plan).   More about cottage style from HGTV.
  • Popular Atlanta Cottage Neighborhoods:  There are a fair amount In the upper price range, you’ll find cottage-style houses in Morningside, Virginia Highland, Peachtree Hills and the City of Decatur.  More affordable homes can be found in several ‘up and coming’ neighborhoods like Adair Park, Sylvan Hills, Scottdale, and Hapeville.  If your budget is somewhere in the middle, check out East Lake, Kirkwood, East Atlanta, Underwood Hills, and Ormewood Park.
