About Decatur High School
Located about five miles east of Downtown Atlanta, Decatur High School (DHS) is nestled in the heart of the City of Decatur — just a few blocks away from the popular Downtown Decatur Square. Established in 1912, it is the sole high school in the City of Decatur school system. Serving about 1,000 students from grades 9 – 12, DHS has received numerous awards and accolades, including being ranked 16th in Georgia on the 2018 U.S. News & World Report “best” high schools list.
Decatur High School is also an International Baccalaureate® World School and many of the students will take college-level IB exams at the end of the senior year, rather than separate exams at the end of the junior and senior years. Based on the 2017 stats, 90% of DHS students go on to attend a 4-year college.
