How to Apply for Georgia Homestead Exemption
In Georgia, homeowners are able to get a significant discount on their property taxes if the home is their primary residence. In order to qualify for the homestead exemption in 2021, most counties require that you must have owned and occupied the property as of January 1st and complete the homestead exemption application in your county. Most of the Georgia counties have an application deadline of April 1st, but you can get all of the details below. When applying for homestead exemption, please note that you may need to provide a copy of your Warranty Deed book and page, proof of residence, social security numbers, driver’s license and/or car tag info.
