Starting to get the Halloween spirit and looking for an event with a slightly spooky vibe to ease you into the Halloween season? Don’t miss Sunday in the Park at historic Oakland Cemetery in Grant Park. The event is Victorian themed, since the cemetery was established in the 1800s, and is Atlanta’s oldest cemetery. Attendees are encouraged to dress in Victorian garb and there will a costume contest, but no costume is required if you just want to pop in and check out the activities.

In keeping with the Victoria theme, there will also be living history demonstrations, storytellers, carriage tours, walking tours that include the opportunity to enter some of the mausoleums, and old-fashioned games and a Teddy Bear Tea for the kids. But not everything happening at Sunday in the Park is old-fashioned. There will also be an artists’ market and live music.

Admission cost is a $5 donation with proceeds benefitting the Historic Oakland Foundation. For more information about Sunday in the Park or to learn more about this historic cemetery, visit the Historic Oakland Foundation’s website at
